Welcome to Pakistan Society

Pakistan Society, a voluntary social welfare organization was founded in 1982 at Karachi Pakistan and subsequently registered under Voluntary Agencies (Registration & Control) Ordinance 1961 by the Directorate of Social Welfare, Govt. of Sindh Pakistan in 1988 for providing social, educational and health care services especially for youth and patients.

Pakistan Society is one of the prestigious organizations actively involved in prevention of infectious diseases such as HIV, TB, malaria, hepatitis and behavioral disorders such as drug dependence. Pakistan Society has worked with local organizations such as SINDH AIDS CONTROL PROGRAMME (SACP), NATIONAL AIDS CONTROL PROGRAMME (NACP), ANTI-NARCOTICS FORCE (ANF) Sindh NGOs Network on HIV/AIDS (SNNHA) NGO Network for Electoral Participation (NEP), NGO Resource Center as well as with international organizations including European Commission, United Nations International Drug Control Program (UNDCP), Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) UNAIDS, Global Fund Against TB and Malaria, World Bank and UNDP.

Pakistan Society is the FIRST NGO IN PAKISTAN, which started drug harm reduction program in 1994 with the financial support of International Drug Demand Reduction Program (IDDRP), a joint project of UNDCP, Pakistan Narcotics Control Board and UNDP.

Pakistan Society is the FIRST NGO IN SINDH, which started HIV/AIDS Prevention Program for Injecting Drug Users in Karachi (2000) supported by UNAIDS & UNDCP.

Pakistan Society is the FIRST NGO IN SINDH, which started HIV/AIDS Prevention Program for Injecting Drug Users in Hyderabad (2004) supported by European Commission through Interact Worldwide and Pakistan National AIDS Consortium.

Pakistan Society is the FIRST NGO IN SINDH, which started HIV/AIDS Prevention Program for Female Drug Users in Sindh (2005) supported by Canada International Development Agency (CIDA).

Pakistan Society is the FIRST NGO IN SINDH, which started both drug harm and demand reduction program in Larkana in 2006.

Pakistan Society is the FIRST NGO IN SINDH, which has the longest working experience i.e. 15 years experience of working with Injecting Drug Users in the field of prevention of HIV/AIDS and STIs including monitoring the organization and location of IDUs in the project area, implementation of appropriate BCC strategies, provision of harm reduction activities including SNEP and referral services, provision of PHC services and treatment of STIs on syndromic management, provision of condoms; education and access to accessible and appropriate STI services as well as access to volunteer counseling and testing services. The services also include facilitating access to ARVT, treatment compliance, prevention, care and support of people living with HIV/AIDS. Pakistan Society has also been working for the prevention of infectious diseases such as hepatitis, tuberculosis and malaria. At present Pakistan Society is working not only with Injecting Drug Users, but also with other Key Vulnerable Communities including Female Sex Workers, Male having sex with male (including transgender), PLHIV and their families.
